ASELSAN VRC-9661 In-Vehicle Remote Control System provides flexibility to locate Vehicular Software Defined Networking Radio (SDNR) anywhere inside vehicle which might be unreachable by operators. It supports remote control of the radio, remote voice & data communications by using two-wire cable connection between local and remote units.
In-Vehicle Remote Control System consists of a Remote Control Unit (RCU) to be located for operator usage and a Local Communication Unit (LCU) to be located close to the radio. Operator is supposed to use RCU just like using the radio itself since RCU has the same display, keypad and interfaces.
RCU and LCU send/receive information between each other over a basic rate ISDN (2B+D) channel, total of 144 kbps in bandwidth, with a customized protocol implementation.
VRC-9661 In-Vehicle Remote Control System Features
Ability to control single Manpack/Vehicular SDNR.
View/change radio parameters.
Provides remote audio communication interface to the radio.
Provides remote IP data communication interface to the radio.
Two-wire cable connection up to 3 km between RCU and LCU.
Connection cables up to 5 m between LCU and Radio.
Full-duplex intercom between RCU and LCU.
Ability to take/release radio control via RCU.
Visual and audible notifications for various communication events.
Suitable to be supplied from military vehicle power supply systems.
VRC-9661 In-Vehicle Remote Control System is capable of maintaining voice communication features of the Radio at remote location. RCU and the Radio have same audio interfaces so that audio devices and systems like headphone, handset, external speaker, etc. are used in same way once the connection is established between them. Voice is transmitted as PCM encoded in 64kbps bandwidth between RCU and LCU.
VRC-9661 In-Vehicle Remote Control System is capable of maintaining IP data communication of the radio at remote location. RCU and Radio have same IP/data interfaces so that ethernet enabled devices are used in same way once the connection is established between them.
VRC-9661 In-Vehicle Remote Control System behaves transparent to the Ethernet packets between two ends as much like an L2 device during transmission of data packets. Data is transmitted as MAC frames in 64 kbps bandwidth between RCU and LCU. It should be noted that Ethernet is highly faster way of communication compared to ISDN channels. So, VRC-9661 In-Vehicle Remote Control System may throttle data bandwidth to 64 kbps during high Ethernet data traffic.
Remote Radio Control
VRC-9661 In-Vehicle Remote Control System is capable of controlling connected radio for remote operation. RCU and radio has same display and keypad. Once the connection is established between them, it is possible to display radio screen on RCU without any change on pixels. Furthermore, all keypad actions occured in RCU are transmitted to the radio and display is updated in response. So, operator is supposed to use RCU just like using the radio itself.
